Tracks of Late or Recently late tracks

detroit

how tracks should be done.........

Kevin Saunderson - 'Till We Meet Again (Carl Craig Remix)' (Planet E)

Paolo Mojo & Jim Rivers - 'Dark Place (Rene Amesz Remix)' (Oosh)

how they shouldn't

Robyn - 'Handle Me (Soul Seekers Radio Edit)' (Konichiwa Records) (R'n'b........?)

Justice - 'D.A.N.C.E (Stuart Price Remix)' (Ed Banger) (sorry i just hate this track in all forms or remixes, f**king kids)

Its bleak and miserable

Looking out at the world 15 floors up and the view its piss poor.

Whenever you think you are getting somewhere it starts raining and the weather goes colder than cold.

Working for hours in a library not understanding fully what dynamic statistics are open and what are closed makes you fantasize about a lifestyle which will never come to reality.

No matter what you do, create, think, sing achieve or even what point of research you put forward there is some c**t who has done it a thousand times better in a thousand other ways without thinking twice.... (Even the point im making was sung about by that freak john lennon)

Leaving the weather out the window looking like a late summer mambos corner sunset in ibiza.

PVD

Internationally renown German DJ PVD has a busy schedule granted.

Having already played to sold out shows in Adelaide, Perth and Brisbane, Paul Van Dyke has plenty of big dates ahead of him before the years out.
This is van Dyk’s 6th tour down under and sure to be his best yet...........
World wide tours eh?
The promo for his arrival on teesside has been massive, So it was a lil' bit funny to hear last night he pulled his uk gigs.

Born in Eisenhuettenstadt, East Germany, Paul van Dyk grew up in communist East Berlin under the gaze of the Berlin Wall. In 1989, after the wall finally came down, a broad club culture sprung up throughout all of Berlin and although Techno music emerged, Paul was looking for a different, more unique sound.
PVD started writing and producing his own tracks like Time Of Our Lives, which was a huge club hit and gained him success in Europe and the U.K.

In 1999 he was named Best international DJ and Best Music Maker by U.K. DJ Magazine ahead of the likes of Fatboy Slim and Paul Oakenfold.

Playing the Empire here in sunny Middlesbrough october 2003 was an awesome set, with highlight tracks 'nothing but you' and Paul Oakenfolds 'Southern sun'.
Amazing live dj worhty of a 20 pound entrance fee, only a few djs would this be acceptable door wise.
Paul isnt one of them in my opinion. Decent enough, I believe his commercial hype does not reflect his quality of music. Whether it has in the past is another issue.
Give my roger sanchez anyday........
....Release yourself.....
lets not eh roger
Paul was voted America’s Favorite DJ for 2004 by BPM Magazine and was the big winner at the 2004 Dancestar Awards, taking home 3 awards - Best International DJ, Best Event and Best Music in a Commercial (Motorola).

Today, Paul’s touring diary is incredibly hectic with regular globetrotting stops at major venues in London, Tel Aviv, Mexico, New York, Singapore and Australia.

Sadly the eager punters of Middlesbrough werent in his plans this year.....Febuary 1st it is then......oh well maybe next year indeed.
Politics of Dancing 2 following on from Politics 1 album in 2001 is his latest album held in high regard and a distinct development in his work.

Worth a squirt?

oh yea.

A Sunny Morning on Southfield road

Location: Middlesbrough.
Population on the streets = not a soul.

Walking to my work this morning just reminded me how good it feels not to wake with a hangover or as in previous years a minging comedown.

3 years ago i'd have being doing the same walk down southfield road towards Haddon street on a early sunny saturday morning after coming from an after party, Empire the night before, Probably Hed Kandi, back when hed kandi was 'cool' yea I know, I know........or maybe the pills worked better then....... either way times have changed.
Alcohol has replaced drugs. And financial responsibilty has come about. And happiness has been found in people. Well, one person. And she looks like a beautiful hed Kandi girl. added bonus.

The music scene in Middlesbrough has changed alot in the last few years, majority of my time was spent equally between the hundreds of sets at the Empire (sugarshack) on a friday and the Cellar bar (dusted) on a saturday.

Spent all my student loan on water bottles and the like. Took full advantage of rolled up flyers and still managed to come home with a pocket full of lighters.

Last nights dance music scene included a John O Bir at the empire after Paul Van Dyke put in a dodgey late cancellation. And James Mowbray at Cellar Bar under Riff raff.

The fight for friday night dance goes on between these two.

*Empire can pull in the heavy weights from yesteryear Morrillo, Sanchez, Van Dyke, Oakenfold, and the more recent nu rave student attracting Boys noise (curtain burning aside), Digitalism, Simian Mobile Disco and Erol Alkan.

*Riff Raff pull the the prog/techno crowd with recent guests such as Audiojack, Scott Bradford, Burnski, Tim Sheridan, The stealthy Mat Tolfrey and them Geordies who im bumming recently Bigger than Jesus.

Lets see how the introduction of retro to the Empire shapes up every second monday of the third morning of the full moon . Gurning posing Paul Taylor groupie chavs taking the place of emo indie new raving kids. If its not broke dont fix it. Financially good move tho. Not a good musical one.

The Alive Triangle of 2007

Daft Punk Return With A New Live Album

On November 19th of this fine year Daft Punk will release a live album based upon the splendid duo's live show at Bercy in their hometown, Paris.

In a french accent Mr Bangalter stated,

"We're from Paris and we hadn't played there for 10 years, It must have been a special night for the audience, as well as for us " The ‘ALIVE 2007’ set will be available as a single CD edition, plus a two-disc case bound book featuring the show's encore, “Harder Better Faster Stronger Live”

So basically the live sets are still being slurped over, rightly so, but where is the new stuff?

Eh?

Creating music like them Baguettes.....

Every C**t has to start somewhere. Great underground prog tracks were once a shity little track on some guys computer.

Every great producer/dj came from nothing.

So what makes them great at what they do?

Is it a innate ability they are born with to be able to knock out track after track?

Is it the options available to them?

Are they given the means, programing and software?

Or is it pure determination that is the key to musical success?

We can only look on and grind our teeth with jealousy. for as I sit here in my low paid job dreaming of being able to produce decent tracks and sets some gifted (maybe not) dj sits on a beach some place sipping the juices of lady sweat.

I imagine creating comes second nature. I imagine base lines are like cocktails. I dont know why they are but they just are.

I in recent months have come a copper upon music programs, and like the sapp that that I am imagine am the next Bangalter or dj Falcon.

Its not going to happen.

Sound Forge, Reverb, Mix Craft 3, Fruity Loops and Audacity combined with the latest underground sounds will not change that fact. Fun as it is to play around I guess there needs to be that extra telling factor.....

If anybody knows please....Im all ears.

It is this inability which makes me love underground driving house music so much more.

French Connection: Aaah yeeaa

The scene at the moment would still be those french electronic sounding ponders from france strangly enough.

Daft Punk, justice, Mr Ozio, Kavinsky, Para one, that shite one nobody mentions....and many other commercial big boy baguettes I wont go into now.
They are cool in all sense of the word, they are taking semi commercial dance to the masses,

I love them. But then do I?

DP have the best live show around, despite the tracks all being 3 years expired, they have the triangle.

Nuff said.

You tube videos galore to feast upon if you didnt have the honour of catching them at O2 london/leeds, rockness or some place in Ireland (Dublin?).

Meanwhile in another part of Gaul....

Para One is on the verge of launching his debut album "Epiphanie" in the U.S.
Released September 11, "Epiphanie" features 14 tracks of French electronic mayhem.
The first single "Dun Dun" is brilliant in all sense of the word.

This track was made for the local disco.

Check out the video here: ''http://youtube.com/watch?v=ycUlnRy4ijk''

Mr Ozio is still going...... (another time)
Kavinskys cartoon 'grand theft auto' jacket is ace....

and

Justice.

Rosnay and Auge. Or 'Justice' head to there friends.

Im sorry. But they are over rated?.
I'm talking out of my arse as they are the most successful of the Ed banger records club.

'A controversial group among dance music fans, they are known for incorporating a strong rock influence into their music and image.'

I hate their music. I really do.

Justice won the award for Best Video at the MTV Europe Music Awards 2006, for Justice vs. Simian - "We Are Your Friends".

They are a commercial big boys who set the trend of what others 'must' follow and repeat.

At least they upset K.West who had a hand in DP's selling out to make a shite pop song out of harder, faster, fatter, thinner, wanker.

That must count for something.

The french electro connection is hot and seems to be getting hotter....... What with there live shows of light crosses and traingles they entertain the masses. Even Simian mobile disco have entertained with a light show as a result of the trend.

As a Zebra once said, 'Entertaining Party music is for drunken students'.

FCUK is a trend setting trend setter. And with cool t-shirts.

*Sarah Rose

Black vs White.

For those of you who don't care or are not bothered, or even can't be bothered to care....this blog isnt actually about zebras!!!

It has nothing to do with f**king zebras.

It is about the underground music scene, it is about the rare and the beautiful. It is about blowing smoke up your arse and ours.

It is about life and the universe, it is about existing and being and loving and rage and emotions not even yet expressed by man.........

The Zebra is a member of the horse family, native to eastern and southern Africa.

They are best known for their distinctive white and black stripes which come in different patterns unique to each individual.

There are four species of zebra.

They can be found an a variety of habitats, such as grasslands, savanna, woodlands, thorny scrublands, mountains and coastal hills.

Interestingly the zebra is nothing like a person, well apart from the stripes.

And more importantly they cannot create music or stuff. We wonder.
